Congratulations! Shed 2 is a multifaceted operation and as such is suitable to hold any of the functions associated with celebrating your forthcoming marriage:
- Hen’s Nights. With an extensive range of drinks and entertainment options we offer a range of possibilities for hen’s night functions.
- The evening before your wedding. With an increasing number of out-of-towners choosing to have their weddings in Hawkes Bay, Shed 2 and Caution can provide a truly local and memorable experience for family and friends on the evening before your big day.
- The day after your wedding. After the formalities the following day is a perfect opportunity for family and friends to gather in a relaxed setting to congratulate the newly married bride and groom. Shed 2 is a popular venue for after-wedding functions. We can assist in hosting breakfasts, brunches, lunches or parties with finger food/platter options.

Happily ever after
Shed 2 on the Quay has become an ideal venue for wedding receptions and conference functions following a significant investment in renovations last year, combined with a stunning waterfront setting.
Our venue is suitable for any occasion, formal or casual, summer or winter. During the summer month’s to take full advantage of our waterfront location and the warm Hawke’s Bay sun, pre-dinner drinks can spill onto the deck or tables can be set inside and outside with fully retractable doors ensuring that the different spaces feel as one. We cater for fine dining with set menu’s, degustation or buffet options but also provide a great place for informal gatherings with platters or wood fired pizza’s and a range of beverage options. We are in an envious location for Hawke’s Bay sunsets, which can be admired by guests over champagne or evening cocktails. With our large open fireplace Shed 2 is just as welcoming in the winter months and offers equally beautiful views with the snow capped mountains falling behind the water views.
We are however not a traditional wedding venue, operating principally as a cafe, bar and restaurant we enjoy heavy trading from locals and tourists particularly during the summer months. While we welcome the opportunity to host your wedding or conference our preference is not to book weddings during peak periods, so please contact us with your requirements so that we can compliment these with our own.
Periods that normal trading hours would generally take precedence:
- 24th December to 6th January
- Public Holidays and Saturday in Shed 2 during February and March. This is a busy period in Hawke’s Bay with events such as Harvest Hawke’s Bay, the Mission Concert and Art Deco Weekend. We are also very busy on Friday’s during January and February and Saturday’s during December and January, so if you’re planning to have your wedding or conference during any of our peak periods please call to discuss your requirements. And if we are unable to meet your requirements, we invite you to book in for a lunch or dinner instead or to consider holding your day after function with us.

The venue hire fee includes full consultation prior to the wedding/conference and full set up of the venue with tables, chairs, white linen, cutlery and glassware and the setting out of place cards, bonbonnerie and the basic printing of personalised menus. All staffing requirements including full tray service of canapes, full bar service, full table food service and clean up of the venue. The venue hire also includes the use of our state of the art technology, which is unrivalled in Hawke’s Bay.
Shed 2 features automated technologies. A sophisticated touch screen key pad controls the lighting, audio and video systems, which enables us to control the environment so that these variables can be changed as required throughout your entire reception.
We have 4 large screens (A 50 inch plasma in Caution and a 180 inch projector, 70 inch screen and 50 inch plasma in Shed 2) which are available to personalise the venue, for instance we can display a welcome message, photos of the bride and groom and slideshows etc. Shed 2 has a full multi media suite and presentation facilities with provisions for laptops, USB drives/memory sticks, digital cameras and video cameras, we also have a cordless microphone available.
We have successfully operated as an entertainment venue over the past 14 years having hosted top New Zealand solo artists and bands, DJ’s, jazz bands, cover bands, opera etc so we are well positioned to provide a great atmosphere for the entertainment portion of your reception. Our sound system is excellent; we have a stage available for bands and are DJ friendly with a large dance floor. The dance floor also includes a smoke machine and is decorated with coloured spot lights, as well as lasers on hand for the right crowd.

Our formal wedding/conference menus start from $55 (without canapés) and $70 (with canapés) Casual options are also available on request.

Our 2010 wedding menus place an emphasis on fresh seasonal produce and have a similar flavour to our current cafe and restaurant menus, so please have a look at our Caution and Shed 2 menu's. We are also happy to accommodate any requirements from individuals (e.g. kids menus) and look forward to discussing these with you.
